Donate Life New Jersey at the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) Convention

Atlantic City - On November 6-7, representatives from both NJ Sharing Network and Gift of Life Donor Program traveled to Atlantic City to promote Donate Life New Jersey at the NJEA Convention. The aim was to promote new educational awareness initiatives that are being developed for both the high school and college level. Over 50,000 teachers and educators attended the convention and many of them enthusiastically displayed their donor designations on their NJ Licenses or State ID’s to our staff. Over 700 educators signed up to receive more information about how they can bring organ donation awareness to their schools. Our partners from the Lion’s Eye Bank of New Jersey and Delaware Valley also provided information on eye donation. The recent passing of the New Jersey Hero Act mandates that each public high school in New Jersey will be required to ensure that information about organ and tissue donation is included in the Core Curriculum Content Standards for Comprehensive Health and Physical Education for grades 9-12 beginning school year 2009-2010.
